Early 2017 Kibet4Kids finished its project in Kolol. With the help of many generous donations, we were able to construct a public primary school – something the whole community is proud of. At the moment the school has 207 pupils, who all receive good quality education for free. Many generations of children are going to benefit from this.
Kibet4Kids started this project in Kolol (Kenya) in 2013, with the aim to deliver good quality education to the children of this impoverished community. We feel strongly that all children deserve the best education, not only children from rich parents who can afford to send their children to private schools.
We are proud of the result! The new school has 9 classrooms (of which 5 built by Kibet4Kids), all fitted with desks and chairs, an administration block, 2 sanitary blocks with each 8 toilets and several hand wash basins. Kibet4Kids has delivered over 1000 school text books and gave three of the teachers the chance to further their education – something they completed by now. On top of this, we did many smaller but essential things, like building a fence around the school compound, make sure all pupils have a daily lunch, make a water drainage system and take the children on an educational (and fun!) tour.
We were only able to do deliver these magnificent results, thanks to the contributions from our donors and sponsors. In total we spent 63.000 Euro (70.000 $) on this project. Apart from that, we have reserved 13.000 Euro (14.500 $) for Kolol. The board of Kolol primary school can spend this money (after our approval) in the coming 6 to 7 years on anything that supports the school and that is in line with the mission of Kibet4Kids.
To all our sponsors and donors: Thank you so much! Every donation, whether small or large, has helped us to improve the lives of the many impoverished children in Kolol and to help them find happiness and success in life. The more than 200 pupils in the school are very happy with the beautiful school we created and with the opportunities this has given them. And the same counts for the many generations that will follow them.
Finally we want to thank the community of Kolol, in particular the teachers and parents of the pupils, for their cooperation and for being invested in this project. We worked very well and effectively together!
From now on, we will focus our energy and enthusiasm on our second project. You can read about that here [link]. We hope that many of you will support this project too!
