Kolol update
You may not have heard much from Kibet4Kids in the last months, but we are making very good progress on the ground. We are happy to announce that we are about to finish our project at Kolol Primary school. The classrooms (up to class 8) are built and there is a staffroom for the teachers. All rooms have good quality desks and chairs. We provided enough books, toilets and taps and six of the classrooms are getting a bookshelf, which will be filled with books. Apart from that we made a drainage system, installed a new watertank, educated three of the teachers (they did additional courses, one got a bachelor’s degree) and made a surrounding fence with a gate. The pupils are getting a daily lunch at the school, to help them stay healthy and concentrate on their studies.
There are still some jobs to be done, like painting the inside of the classrooms, but we are waiting for the school holiday (August) to finish this, so that we don’t cause disturbance to the pupils. As soon as ‘Kolol’ is completely done, we will post an update on this website.
In the coming years, we will stay in contact with Kolol, to make sure that the high standard is maintained, and to give some small support if necessary. However, we are confident that, also without our help, they will continue to do well in the future. It’s time for us to start our second project, about which you will read more on this website.
