Meeting with the deputy DEO
Hilda Kibet and Hugo van den Broek had a meeting with the deputy DEO (District Education Officer) from Keiyo district – one of the districts in Kenya – mister Chemoiywo. He gave them valuable information about the number of primary schools in this district, as well as the number of pupils per school and class. This helps us in determining which schools are most in need of help. Mister Chemoiywo is of the opinion that the main reason for the less number of pupils in high school, is the fact that many kids score below average in their final exam in primary school (KCPE), thus they are not invited for any high school. He claims that every pupil getting a score of 250 and above, will be allowed to go to high school, since there is adequate space in high schools in Kenya. He also lets them know that the Kenyan government will do it’s best to employ a teacher for every classroom that we build. They agreed to meet again in January 2013.
